I currently have 500 MVCD points via a promo we got for doing something (we've forgotten). They expire 2/22/25. We will be at the Waiohai and Maui Ocean Club all of Feb 2025 and would like to find a way to use these. I understand that I can take 350 of these and turn them into $110 Resort Credits. I need another 200 points to add to my 150 point balance to get another $110 Resort Credits. Is there somewhere on this TUG website where points can be bought/sold? I looked at Marketplace/Points but most of these seem to for a lot more points (>1,000) than I'm looking for and need. If anybody knows where I could get/buy these 200 points, please let me know. Marriott has "valued" these resort points at 31.43 cents per Resort Credit but I assume I can find 200 points for less than this price.

A few questions for anybody who has done this before:
1. Is there a marketplace for buying and selling these "remnant" points and if so, where can i find it?
2. What is the typical price for these points that can be turned into Resort Credits (or used to book a room)?
3. How are these points "transferred" by the seller to the buyer?
4. Does Marriott allow these transactions to happen?

It'd be a shame to "waste" my 150 extra points so any help on this would be much appreciated.

Based on the timeframe I'm guessing those points are from the Abound sweepstakes early last year. Not sure what they might be, but you may want to look into any possible restrictions on how you can use those promo points, as well as any transferred points if you go that route.

Each $110 Resort Credit cost 325 Points..I just purchased 2 Resort Credits using holding points that expire early June for our stay at Crystal Shores in May.

That's about $.34 per point. The only good thing I can say about your deal is that it's better than using 800 points for a $199 travel insurance policy - $.25 per point.

And the sales guys tell us what a great value we get for the points. Talk about devaluation, let's see I paid $.783 in maintenance fees per point. Well, it's ok if your only alternative is to throw the points away.

You can rent points on vacation points exchange. You’ll see the prices there. The seller will know how to do it and there is info on vpe site. It is allowed by MVC.
Be sure to crunch the numbers to see if it makes financial sense.
You probably can’t transfer your promo points out of your account.
Try the chat feature on MVC to ask any questions about the use of the promo points, type agent to get a live person.

It’s lot likely worth renting 200 points to go with what you have to net a $110 credit. Will likely cost you approx 70 cents a point to rent the 200, which is more than the credit would be worth. Can rent points here.. www.vacationpointexchange.com.

if you can’t use them before they expire, could always offer them up for free by making a ressie for somebody else who needs an extra night or two. See this thread…. https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/free-usage-of-marriott-timeshares-from-owners.356756/

I've done an analysis of all the non timeshare booking options that are available and the only one that has a value more than maintenance fees is the Owner Events. These are generally over $1 per point but you also have to attend an sales pitch. This is however based on MVC own retail valuation. Everything else is way under. Some enrolled owners with low MF/point ratios may come out ahead, but given the recent MF hikes even that is getting harder.

@Fasttr - Thanks for pointing me to the vacationpointexchange.com website. There's a person there offering to buy small lots for $0.60. I'll keep the group posted on what happens.

It will be interesting to see if you can transfer promo points

Yeah, I don't think that will work.
Yes I see fasttr actually suggested the site for renting more points or suggested making a reservation for someone.
I don’t expect the promo points themselves can be transferred.
