Which airport is nearest to the Manhattan Club? The larger airports. JFK-EWR-LGA?? What is the best ground transportation to use? Sorry if this has been asked in the past. I did search and did not find anything.

Thanks

You can get to MC fairly easily from all 3 airports. I have flown into all three with no problems. My suggestion would be to fly into whichever yeilds the best cost on the flight. Then get the details on that airport.

LGA is closest in, JFK next, then EWR, which is in New Jersey.

Try here. If you can carry luggage, Newark is 25 minutes by rail to Penn Station on 34th St in NY. Need taxi from there. (Or subway...I think the luggage might be the problem) Approx 16 miles from Newark to MC...it the traffic thats the killer from any of the airports:

We just returned from the MC. We always fly into JFK..this time we flew into LGA. We received our luggage in record time and got to the MC within an hour of landing. Record time..and that was using the NY Airport bus service. , $21 round trip pp to the MC. It was a Sat...always easier than a week day.

We flew non-stop to LGA and I thought it was very conveinent and the view of Manhatten and Statue of Liberty is fantastic from the AB side of the plane. The taxi fare if I remember correctly with tip was $30 each way. So for two it's comparable to the services and for 3 or 4 much cheaper.

In NY you don't go by distance, you go by traffic.
LGA is closest, JFK has public transit into Manhattan, but it requires a lot of transfers.
LGA is probabaly better as you do not have to go through Brooklyn.
May be cheaper to book on line with a limo service rather than take a taxi

How about Long Island? Southwest flies into that airport and I have some free tickets. Or is that just crazy talk? Back in 1982 I flew into JFK and went to Long Island and I think the shuttle ride was about 1 hour. Thanks everyone for your replies.

The airport on Long Island is always my first choice, however I live on Long Island! It is smaller and less hectic than the other three. Anyway, it is located off of the LIE (Long Island Expressway) probably about 45 minutes from LGA without traffic. If you have free tickets and you are looking to commute to and from the airport into Manhattan at off peak times, I would consider it an option.

If flying into JFK you can take the AirTrain to Jamiaca Station and then catch the LIRR into Penn Station. Took us 35 minutes from Jamiaca Station and was $12 each. Really nice ride.

Try calling Super Shuttle at 1-800-bluevan, or check their web site.

It provides door to door service to the MC. The cost is about $19. per person one way from JFK and Newark, and I think less if there are extra people with you. I believe there is service also from the Southwest Airlines terminal on Long Island.

If you don't have much luggage, you can just as easily take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station and then the subway (E train) into Manhattan. It's only $2 each (plus $5 each for AirTrain) and gets you to 53rd Street and 7th Ave, a short walk to the MC (three short blocks to 56th and 7th). I think that our total time to the airport was about an hour each way.

If you choose to come in via the AirTrain and E train, I suggest you purchase one week transit passes known as the"metro card" at the E train station, before boarding the train. This can be done with a credit card inserted into a machine. The card can then be used for unlimited travel on NYC buses and trains, including the E train trip to and from the Manhattan Club. It costs $20. something for the week vs. paying $2.00 each time you take a train or bus ride.
