We are going soon to Westin Lagunamar and i have been monitoring both getaways and exchanges for some friends.
There was a decent number of weeks both getaways and exchanges in October, November and early December 2018
The getaways virtually disappeared for this year (one studio left in November). Could they have all been booked in the last couple of days? Maybe but not likely since they had been sitting there for a while, low season in Cancun.
Some getaways appeared from end March of 2019, but much more expensive. A studio on March 30th is $1197
The same with exchanges, only studios available April-June 2019. There were several available for this year just a couple of days ago.
The sudden change in inventory does not appear to be done by members booking the resort overnight. Can Interval (or Vistana) just take back inventory?
The pool renovation at Lagunamar in going to be finished in few days and that was suppressing some demand. Seaweeds are gone from what was reported. Also, capacity in parts of Florida has been affected by hurricane Michael and some tourists are probably looking for alternatives.
