Yes. I have purchased WKV resale on two occasions and each time I asked the previous owner to make a reservation for me and those reservations did transfer with the ownership. In one case the previous owner put my name as a guest on the reservation and in the other case the previous owner just put their name on the reservation, but I was able to change the name to my own once the transfer was completed through Starwood.

If I sell my SDO unit and have a reservation does it pass along to new owners?

The safest way to transfer this reservation is as follows:
1.) Once the reservation is made, set the reservation up as a "third party" reservation in the Buyer's name etc.
2.) When you are approaching the closing of the sale, contact owner services again and have them place a note on the reservation stating that this reservation is to be transferred to the Buyer.
3.) When the transfer paperwork is sent to Title Services, make sure there s some verbiage that there is an outstanding reservation that is to be transferred to the Buyer. Include the confirmation as well.

they gave a lame excuse, they thought i didn't want it.

Same thing happened to me. It seems to be SOP. Even worse, I didn't find out about it until months later. Fortunately, they were able to get it back.

I'd recommend followings James's advice to ensure a smooth transfer.

If I am not mistaken, you can also request the agent to put special comments on the reservation that imply the intent is to transfer to a Buyer. These comments will show up on the confirmation that you can use for back-up should any problems occur.....the comments used to appear on the confirmation anyway....they may have made changes.
