It is hard not to love staying at the Point at Poipu Resort.. You are right on the beach... The pool is large and is surrounded by a beach... You canwalk to the beach... The rooms are large. The two bedroom / two bathroom layout is great. I was in Building 9 on the first floor which allowed a view of the ocean.

The Jacuzzi is a big and the pool is great. There is a series of pools coming down the hill from check-in to the pool level that are filled with fish and have a waterfall down to the next level. The gym has a lot of equipment, a nice pool bar, plenty of places to relax by the pool, and much more. Staff was great. And there are benches throughout the where you can sit and enjoy the wonderful plants here on the garden isle of Kauai.

The Point of Poipu has rocks/cliffs for Ocean Front. It would be more accurate to say right on the Ocean. Shipwreck Beach is a short walk. Poipu Beach is also close. Do not get me wrong we love staying there.

The units are showing their age and updates have been planned and delayed for years. They finally started this fall, but it will take 5 years before all units are complete. However, they do keep everything up and running. They respond to any problems quickly. Personally, I don't care much if the kitchen and bathroom look outdated because the grounds and location are awesome. Here's plenty of pictures we've taken over the years, including some from before the last round of renovations about 10 years ago.

BTW, from the light beacon on the corner of the Great Wall of Poipu, you can watch the sunrise over the water and the sunset over the water, with occasional green flashes.

Any more construction inside the Great Wall of Poipu? When we were there in February, 2 were being built at the top of the hill and it looked like they were about to start one near the ocean.

Cliff,
Did you go to a presentation?
How was it? What did they gift you?

I will be there for Thanksgiving, last year they said I was not a candidate for a tour since I was unlikely to buy after years of saying no.

Yes - quite a bit more. Construction is underway on almost all of the lots opposite buildings 2 3 and 4. The very end lot, that is opposite the W side of building 6, is still vacant.

All of the ocean front units in Buildings 2 3 and 4 now have construction underway between the unit and the ocean front.

I assume you meant buildings 3 and 4? Building 8 is currently our favorite, and it will be unaffected. We're getting older and like a short walk to the pool.

Construction underway... I am looking forward to the renovations next time I go. This could be a really nice resort... Rooms are bigger than many... Just dated

The sales team told me that it is harder to book a room now that one of the buildings in under construction... They said that the construction will take about 3 months per building... With 10 building, that would be 30 months.... Unless "Hawaii time" happens.

The room requests by owners are often made a year in advance, so with an exchange, you're probably not going to get one of the best rooms. With both bedrooms occupied, for sure, you want to request that you do not get one of the elbow rooms. Those are the rooms that are wrapped around a 45 degree angle. There's two problems. The 2nd bedroom doesn't have A/C, and the window of the 2nd bedroom faces the hallway. Most units have A/C in each bedroom and you have to leave the doors open to cool the living area. Elbow rooms aren't bad if the 2nd bedroom isn't occupied because the master and the living area both have A/C.

The other thing you have to decide is whether you want to be close to the adult hot tub, bldg 2,3, or 4; close to the swimming pool, bldg 5,6,7, or 8; or close to the parking lot, bldg 9 or 10. Not much sense in requesting specific room numbers, because you're not likely to get them with an exchange.

This is an old map, but the only thing that has changed is the name: Embassy, Sunterra, Diamond, and now Hilton.

If the second bedroom has two beds, just call housekeeping and ask them to "bridge" the beds. They will push them together and use a bridge to fill the crack. You end up with a king size bed.

You should be aware that renovations have started, and some buildings are unavailable. See this thread. Also, at the Point almost all suites are 2-bedroom. There are 2 suites that I know of that are 3-bedroom, one of these was being used as the sales office. There may be one or two one-bedroom units around.

I believe there are a few 1-bedroom units in Building 7 - most likely 101/102 and/or 104/204. The footprint for those units is significantly smaller.

That should be true, because that takes rooms out of service. Right now, all of building 6 is empty due to construction.

I also should have mentioned that there are very few rooms that don't have a nice view, even the garden view rooms.
